One can foresee the next steps. A million and a half Arab citizens cannot be expected to recognize Israel as a Jewish and Democratic State. They want it to be “a state of all its citizens” – Jews, Arabs and others. They also claim with reason that Israel discriminates against them, and therefore is not really democratic. And, in addition, there are also Jews who do not want Israel to be defined as a Jewish State in which non-Jews have the status, at best, of tolerated outsiders.
The consequences are inevitable. The prisons will not be able to hold all those convicted of this crime. There will be a need for concentration camps all over the country to house all the deniers of Israeli democracy.
The police will be unable to deal with so many criminals. It will be necessary to set up a new unit. This may be called “Special Security”, or, in short, SS.
Hopefully, these measures will suffice to preserve our democracy. If not, more stringent steps will have to be taken, such as revoking the citizenship of the democracy-deniers and deporting them from the country, together with the Jewish leftists and all the other enemies of the Jewish democracy.

Israel deploys cyber team to spread positive spin
The existence of an “internet warfare team” came to light when it was included in this year’s foreign ministry budget. About $150,000 (Dh551,000) has been set aside for the first stage of development, with increased funding expected next year.
In an interview this month with the Calcalist, an Israeli business newspaper, Mr Shturman, the deputy director of the ministry’s hasbara department, admitted his team would be working undercover.
“Our people will not say: ‘Hello, I am from the hasbara department of the Israeli Foreign Ministry and I want to tell you the following.’ Nor will they necessarily identify themselves as Israelis,” he said. “They will speak as net-surfers and as citizens, and will write responses that will look personal but will be based on a prepared list of messages that the Foreign Ministry developed.”
Rona Kuperboim, a columnist for Ynet, Israel’s most popular news website, denounced the initiative, saying it indicated that Israel had become a “thought-police state”.

Israël gaat in schoolboeken verwijzingen naar de Naqba (ramp), de term die de Palestijnen gebruiken voor de oprichting van de staat Israël in 1948, schrappen. Dat heeft de Israëlische minister van Onderwijs, Gideon Saar, dinsdag gezegd.
In 1948 werden honderdduizenden Palestijnen van huis en haard verdreven of sloegen op de vlucht. Saar zei dat het een fout was dat enkele jaren geleden in het onderwijs voor Arabische Israëliers verwijzingen naar de Naqba werden toegestaan. Hij zei dat die fout in nieuwe schoolboeken wordt hersteld. „Er is geen reden om in een officieel onderwijsprogramma de creatie van de staat Israël als een catastrofe voor te stellen”, aldus de bewindsman.
